5 Infertility Grants You Should Know About

November 11, 20233 min read

The cost of surrogacy can be a huge financial burden and deters some Intended Parents from pursuing it as a way to achieve parenthood. This week, Alexandra from the Gift of Surrogacy Foundation joined me to educate our community about her foundation as well as talk about other ways to help afford surrogacy. This blog shares the grant information that we discussed on our live, as well as the websites to check out each grant in hopes there are some you are eligible for.

1. Gift of Surrogacy Foundation

This amazing foundation was started by Alexandra and Zach French after they had their daughter through surrogacy. The foundation recently awarded its first recipients $100,000 towards their surrogacy journey. Alexandra shared that the next grant application will open in March 2023. See the link below to apply.

2. Baby Quest

According to Baby Quest, The grant can be used to cover any expenses associated with assisted reproduction such as IVF, egg and sperm donation, egg freezing, and surrogacy." The exact amount of this grant is dependent upon the availability of the funds and is awarded two times per year. The next application window opens January 1st, 2024 and closes March 30, 2024.

3. The Cade Foundation

The Cade Foundation (which is headquartered in my hometown!) has 3 different types of grants that you can apply for if you are eligible: The Family Building Grant, The Savannah Grant (exclusively for Shady Grove Fertility patients) and the Dr. Stephen Greenhouse Grant. The Family Building Grant is awarded twice per year, in the spring and fall.

According to the Cade Foundation’s website,“Awardees can use the funds for domestic adoption and infertility treatments including IUI, IVF, donor egg, gestational carrier. Grants do not cover egg freezing or embryo freezing.”

4. Resolve

This is the National Infertility Association Website, but an amazing resource that lists all different types of grants. Many of the grants listed are for specific states and require that you are a resident of that state. Please check out this website to see the comprehensive list and learn about which ones you may be eligible to apply for.

5. Men Having Babies (MHB)

Men Having Babies provides education, advocacy and financial support to gay men achieving parenthood through surrogacy. Their website contains so much valuable information and I highly recommend checking it out. There are two stages in their Gap Parenting Assistance Progaam (GPAP). GPAP stage 1, accepts applications all year round and offers discounts with certain agencies, fertility clinics and lawyers. GPAP Stage II offers financial support to contribute towards a surrogacy journey. The website states that recipients in Stage II often pay about 30-40% of the total cost of the surrogacy journey. Eligible stage 1 recipients are able to apply to the Stage II in June-August and the grants are awarded once per year.
